Interested in learning to take a fist? Fisting is becoming more and more popular. Learn about using toys to train your body and mind to enjoy the unique and intense sensations that come from fisting.

Challenges of Taking a Fist

Being penetrated by a fist might seem impossible to an inexperienced bottom, but your body is likely quite capable of it. In fact, once you've learned to relax your muscles and accept a fist you'll likely derive huge amounts of pleasure from the sensation of being penetrated in this way. The feelings of fullness, stretch, and the motion of a talented top sliding a fist past your sphincter are incomparable. But how can you go from being comfortable bottoming with a dick to being able to take a fist?

Working up to a Fist With Toys

The physical part of training your body to accept a fist is relatively straightforward, and toys are perfect for it because they allow you to move at your own pace without feeling pressured. Plug shapes with relatively wide necks like the Gape Keeper® series are ideal. The plug shape trains you to take a maximum width while the wide neck gets your sphincter used to accommodating a consistent stretch. You'll want to identify a good starting point based on your experience level. The Gape Keeper® 65 is just slightly above the width of the average dick, so if you're an experienced bottom you should find that the 65 or the Gape Keeper® 75 is ideal. If you're new to bottoming you might like the long tapered shape of the Spike 70 which allows you to insert the toy to the width of your comfort before moving down the shaft. Our Sizing Guide has plenty of information about all of our sizes to help you identify your starting size.

Holding a Fist

It's not just the width of a fist that's a new sensation for the bottom. The widest part of the fist is at the knuckles, which then tapers down to the wrist. Once your sphincter conquers the knuckles it will have an easy time resting around the wrist. But accommodating the full fist is an entirely new challenge that requires calm. Many bottoms use meditation techniques to help relax when a fist first slides in. Try deep breathing, or focussing on each individual sensation and how it's different from anything else you've ever felt. The best tops will know how to read a bottom to find the right motions that create pleasure while still challenging the bottom.

Toys can help you develop your ability to hold a fist, as well. Being filled with a fist is not uncomfortable, but it is an unfamiliar sensation. Add the fact that your mind may not have fully caught up with your body's capabilities, and it can be a panicky feeling at first. Using larger plugs with wide necks can help train your body to hold a larger mass beyond the sphincter.

Once you’ve worked your way up to holding the Gape Keeper® 100, you’re likely ready to take a fist. The longer shape requires your body to relax internally to accept the plug, much like a fist. If your top has larger hands or wants to use a closed fist you might find the Gape Keeper® 116 is perfect. Once you've worked up to being able to insert these sizes, you'll want to start practicing holding them for 5 minute, 10 minute, 20 minute, and longer intervals. Doing so will create the space inside of you necessary for a fist to comfortably rest. Holding the plugs for longer will extend your play sessions and make them more enjoyable for yourself and your partner/s.

Why Train With Plugs?

Training with plugs offers many safety and comfort benefits.

1. Solo play allows you to take it slow rather than feeling pressured to take a fist before you are ready. Moving at your own pace is always a good idea when you’re challenging your body.

2. High quality toys are made of soft, flexible, smooth platinum silicone. These shapes don't have the texture and bumps of a fist, making them easier for beginners getting comfortable inserting larger objects.

3. Toys are available when you are. Training to take a fist takes frequent repetition. Trying to line up a caring top a few nights a week to help you on your journey can be tough. Having toys available to keep you progressing at a steady pace will get you to your goal faster and with less risk of injury.

4. It's the least fun part of fisting- cleaning out before a play session. Many bottoms find that cleaning for a solo toy session is less stressful than cleaning when a playmate is involved, simply because there's no time pressure.

5. Playing with our meticulous anatomically thought out plugs is bound to give you an immense amount of pleasure and joy while training.

Conquered a Fist? Why not try Two?

Congratulations! You've become a fisting bottom who loves every part of it. You're comfortable counting punches, and more often than not you find yourself asking your top to make a bigger fist. What's next? Doubles! If double fisting is on your agenda you'll love working with the Gape Keeper® 128. This large toy will open you up and give your top/s plenty of room to play.
