Inventory & Logistics Specialist

Topped Toys is seeking applications to fill the role of Inventory & Logistics Specialist.

The Inventory & Logistics Specialist is responsible for forecasting inventory needs and ensuring that all warehouses are properly stocked, selecting the best shipping method and preparing customs declarations for all international import/export shipments, and maintaining relationships with our retail partners. This Specialist is also responsible for negotiating and maintaining strategic relationships with vendors and retail partners to reap maximum benefits for the company.

Core Responsibilities

  • Inventory

    • Determine inventory and ordering requirements by analyzing sales histories, production capacity, and shipping times;

    • Ensure all warehouses are adequately stocked for regular sell-throughs and promotional events;

    • Arrange transfer of inventory from Vancouver to international warehouses;

    • Coordinate toy production requirements with the manufacturing team.

  • Purchasing

    • Source suppliers, request samples, and negotiate prices;

    • Place purchase orders with consideration of sales velocity, MOQs, shipping speed, etc.;

    • Arrange deliveries directly to all warehouses;

    • Perform quality review and report manufacturing and shipping issues to vendors.

  • Shipping

    • Manage and optimize relationships with courier and freight partners to ensure cost-effective, reliable shipping operations;

    • Monitor and interpret international trade regulations (tariffs, duties, import/export restrictions) and implement compliant, efficient logistics processes;

    • Request freight and insurance quotes;

    • Assist with building pallet shipments;

    • Prepare import/export documentation, and resolve shipping/customs clearance issues in a timely manner.

  • Retail Partners

    • Maintain and distribute price lists;

    • Act as primary point of contact for retail partners;

    • Generate ideas to support growth with our retail partners;

    • Process purchase orders.

Working Conditions

The Inventory & Logistics Specialist works in an office environment at Topped Toy’s head office in Vancouver. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays on short notice to accommodate manufacturing teams in Asia and global retail partners.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in logistics and supply chain management

  • Excellent English written and oral skills required

  • Fluency in a second language an asset

  • Above average Excel / Google Sheets skills

  • Analytical skills, with knowledge of statistical analysis and forecasting

  • Data science background and ability to write analytics software an asset

  • Confident in making decisions, able to work independently

  • Time management skills, able to prioritize, capable of working under pressure

  • Ability to lift up to 20kg

  • Forklift operator certification an asset

This position requires physical attendance at Topped Toy’s head office in Vancouver, Canada. Applicants should be legally eligible to work in Canada.
